firesculpture finally on display again!

Got a request from the folks over  at Pakit Liquidators about using the firesculpture for the upcoming Bend Roots Revival Festival so Kellen (co-creator of sculpture and owner of Copper Iron Cubed) and I drug it out of storage and put a fresh coat of wax on it.

Disassembled, it all fits nicely in the back of the truck.

Happy to be a Blacksmith

Lit the forge this morning, like I do most mornings, and realized how lighting that fire has never gotten old. Every time I do it I feel excited by the endless possibilities. I think I learn something every time I pull hot steel out of the fire and take it to the anvil or powerhammer. Owning and operating Orion Forge has put me on a path of art, creativity and beauty.

I wonder if computer programmers feel a similar way when they boot up?

new (to me) 150 pound beaudry power hammer

i recently acquired this power hammer. it was built sometime in the forties and hasn't been run in a looonngg time. i've been tearing it down and putting it back together and thus slowly learning more about the tool. i'm getting closer to getting it going, but still am a ways out. note how it dwarfs the little 25 pound hammer!

A neighborhood smithy in Ladakh, India. The girl's dad was in the shop making farm tools.
